Keeping in view the latest notification of MCA, Tally Solutions has introduced special version of Tally Prime namely Tally Prime Edit Log. Pvt. Ltd companies which need to keep the mandatory edit log of all the transactional changes made in the entries should start using it. For those who need not to follow the audit trail rule as notified by Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) normal version is there.
Tally Prime Edit Log
Although the ruling has been put on hold by the govt. but Tally Prime Edit log can be a great tool the manage your business even better. If you want to see which user has done what changes and a particular voucher has been changed for how many times and what changes are being made and who has made these changes then Tally Prime Edit Log is the thing you want.
If you have not started using it then it can be used now for better control and monitoring.
Let us see how the edit log of masters as well as transaction can be seen in edit log version of Tally Prime rel 2.1. Since the only difference between Tally Prime 2.1 and Tally Prime Edit Log is that in Tally Prime Edit Log you cannot change or stop or edit the Audit Trail, in Tally Prime 2.1 the log maintenance is optional so the video given below is using Tally Prime 2.1 to show how this Edit log can be enabled and disabled and then how we can view the master edit log and the transaction edit log.
How to enable Edit Log in Tally Prime 2.1
To enable optional edit log feature in Tally Prime 2.1 follow this process.
Go to Alter company screen by pressing . On the right hand just below financial period option you would find the option. If it is not there then press F12 and the second option would be of edit log function activation.
How to view Edit log of Masters in Tally Prime 2.1
To view what changes has been done in masters Go to Chart of Account, select ledgers and press Ctrl + B or Basis of Value Button on the right.
In show report for option select altered vouchers option.
You would have the list of all altered masters
